Seeing the discovery of preserved artifacts in a 1903 mine is a fascinating reminder of how much history remains hidden beneath the surface, a perspective I appreciate while navigating the intensive rigors of my own PhD research. Balancing my doctoral studies with a part-time role at last minute assignments has given me a front-row seat to the modern student experience, where academic and personal goals often clash with overwhelming time constraints; having suffered through many high-stress hustles and sleepless nights during my own college days, I am now incredibly conscious of the mental toll that an unmanaged workload can take on one's stability. The Adventure Begins Now. 

Most outdoor enthusiasts go hiking, fishing or mountain climbing, Ghost Towns of Washington has an enthusiasm all our own.  Ghost Towns of Washington seeks out towns, mining sites, and historic sites that once existed or will cease to exist in the near future.  Photographing and documenting these remnants of our past.

 

In 2010 we decided to embark on a series of weekend self guided adventures to ghost towns and historic mining sties in Washington.  We set out seeking the thrill of adventure and undiscovered treasure.  What we discovered was much more rewarding.
