Mine Site Visit
Date
2015
The Buckeye Mine is located in the Index Mining District of Snohomish County WA.
The Buckeye claims were located in 1898 and again in 1906. The surface workings of the mine consisted of bridges, bunkhouses, cookhouses, barns, open cuts, and three tunnels. The claims consisted of approximately 1500 feet of tunnel. The primary ores sought here were copper. After 1907 there was very little development work done to the site.
The Buckeye was operated by the Buckeye Copper Co. until sometime around 1912.
The main tunnel of the mine is located in Snohomish County however by the time you reach the back of the tunnel, you are in King County.
