The Silver Tip mine is located in the Nooksack River region of the Mt. Baker Mining District of Whatcom County WA at an elevation of 3000 feet. The primary minerals sought here were copper, gold, and silver.
The mine was located in 1896 by H.C. Wells making it one of the first in district. In the 1940's a 50 ton flotation mill and aerial tramway were installed at the mine. The aerial tramway was 2600 feet long descending 1000 feet to the mill. The mill was destroyed by a snow slide in the winter of 1949-50. This event essentially ended mining operations at the site.
The underground workings consisted of two upper adits and a lower adit. Today all but one of the adits are collpased.
