Chimney cabin site Galena

The town of Galena was located in the Upper Cle Elum Mining District of Kittitas County WA.  Galena was platted in 1890 by A.F. York the surveyor for Kittitas County.  The town was a total of 35 blocks, most sold however the town never developed into the boom town it was intended to be.

Galena had more of a camp culture than a true town.  It was said most of the entertainment and activities were of a rough and crude nature. Should the residents of Galena wish to participate in respectable organizations they would have to travel to Roslyn or Cle Elum.

Today very little remains of Galena except for the ruins of cabin sites and mill that processed the mine ores.
